The sworn translation or official translation is the one performed by a translator duly appointed and authorized by the State Board of Trade where office has taken place. Every sworn translation is legally recognized throughout Brazil, is used for legal purposes, is recognized in several countries, in addition to being registered in appropriate public book.
The law requires a sworn translation for every document in a foreign language that needs to be presented in court or at a Federal, State or City public office, as well as entities or organizations maintained, supervised or directed by the government.
A sworn translation or version may also be requested by foreign companies in trade negotiations within the country, investors, credit rating agencies, multinational corporations, universities, investors, among others.
